I'm sure when most people hear life ring, they think of a circular floating device used to preserve someone's life, and they would be 100% correct.
Hello, I am Mike, and this idea started as an aha moment that I was initially calling "The Urban Oceans Project". Then one day when I was describing my vision to my son he said, "I'm going to call your idea A life Ring Project". That night he and his mom created this website, and aside from what I write here, this is going to be his website to build and manage.
Now to get back on track.
I'd like to briefly describe how this Life Ring Project is that basic idea, expanded to circle the earth at the equator.
A floating bridge across oceans, a bridge that creates new surface area for new life, both above and below the ocean surface.
I offer this self sustaining new vision as an alternative to the inherent dependency of the urban lifestyle, and the stress its current concept puts on the extremely limited amount of efficient land area earth provides.
I hope this website will help show how we humans, as an intelligent species, can learn from our past mistakes, can use all our technology to right what we have naively wronged, can make plenty of room for ALL of us, plus many many more of us, but not just us, ALL life, both aquatic and terra, wild and domestic.
I know we CAN do this.
i think we SHOULD do this.
I hope, after I've shared the knowledge I have learned, you agree with me
Hi I am Drako and I am 12 years old. I started working on this project with my father in early 2022, he was thinking to himself one time why are humans mean to each other and he came to the conclusion, people not having enough resources so he had an idea what if everybody had enough resources to live in peace, that if there were more than enough room and resources, people would eventually just stop hoarding, and being greedy. That is the thought that started Aliferingproject.
Dad here, just wanted to ad a few things to this about us section if I may.
First, I would like to include the world in my thoughts about us, just a few basic facts.
Earth: 71% water, 29% landmass
Landmass: 11% permafrost, 33% (1/3) desert, 24% mountains, and 32% stable/fertile,
When all these numbers are crunched it works out to less than one acre of good-productive land per person on earth.
How much land is needed to support an individual person year round for life?
Google says between 5 and 25 acres each, depending on how modern the lifestyle.
Currently there are approximately 7.8 billion humans on earth
I know, my mind was blown too.
But it answered my first question that started this whole idea, why are people aggressive? Because they are desperate.
The change I offer is the 71% that is constantly feared and overlooked. . . The oceans.
Ocean: sunlight reaches 10% of the sea floor, 90% seafloor is permanently dark (sunlight on solid surface supports the most biodiversity).
Surface waves effect no deeper than 200 feet of water column, everything below that is stabile.
Surface temps vary from over 80°F in the tropics, to freezing around the poles. Ocean temps at 700 feet stabilize at a constant 34°F.
90% of the ocean is virtually lifeless, because there is nothing solid and stabile there for it to grow on.
I know we can use that to our advantage as a species, and help our home world in the process.
This website is a work in progress, just like the concept. More updates will be coming soon.
Thank you for checking us out.

Imagine a floating cable stay bridge, with a top deck of green , populated by billions of humans within the bridge structure , in perfect balance with the ecosystem . Powered by 100% renewable energy sources and is 110% productive of its own food and water resources. Tens of millions of acres of surface area can be created in and over the volume of water contained under an ocean surface area of less than 100 thousand acres. Also functioning as a filter and heat pump, the plastic pollution and rising surface temperatures will be cleaned up and reversed as the bridge grows. Using space station and naval submarine technology, zero emmissions can be acheived.
